Dressler is known for his research on galaxy formation and cosmology, particularly as a leading member of the Morphs Collaboration, which studied galaxy evolution with the Hubble Space Telescope. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Newton-Lacy-Pierce Prize for Astronomy and the NASA Public Service Medal.
