Alan Robert Edmonds is a British physicist born on May 23, 1922. He studied at the University of Birmingham, earning his Bachelor's degree in 1950 and his doctorate in 1953. In the mid-1950s, he worked in the theory department of CERN, which was located at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. From 1960 to 1964, he was a Senior Research Physicist at Imperial College London and later became a lecturer. Edmonds is known for his authoritative book on angular momentum in quantum mechanics, published in 1957.
