He earned a Bachelor's degree in biology and electrical engineering from MIT in 1967 and completed his Ph.D. in biophysics at UC Berkeley in 1972. His career includes positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Brown University, and several adjunct professorships. Perelson has received multiple prestigious awards, such as the Max Delbruck Prize and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
