Alberto Lysy was an Argentine violinist, conductor, and violin pedagogue born in Buenos Aires in 1935. He achieved fame as the first Latin American winner in the Concours Reine Elisabeth in Brussels in 1955, where he placed sixth. Lysy studied under Ljerko Spiller and became a personal student of the renowned Yehudi Menuhin. He had a successful solo career and founded the Camerata Bariloche in 1967. From 1977, he directed the Yehudi Menuhin International Music Academy in Saanen, forming the successful Camerata Lysy from his students.
