Alejandro Ponsoda Bou was a Valencian politician born on November 25, 1952, in El Castell de Guadalest. He served as the mayor of Polop and was a member of the People's Party since the 1980s. After leading in the 1991 municipal elections and securing the mayoralty in 1995, Ponsoda was reelected in subsequent elections. He contributed to local development and tourism. Tragically, he was shot outside his home on October 19, 2007, and passed away a week later. His successor was implicated in his murder due to suspected urban corruption.
