Bursche is affiliated with the Institute of Archeology at the University of Warsaw and specializes in the Roman influence period, the Migration Period, and the interactions between the ancient world and Barbaricum. He is the deputy chair of the Program Council at the Copernicus Science Centre and the chair of the DARIAH-PL digital humanities consortium. Additionally, he is a Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute.
