Aleksandr Petrovich Lisitsyn was a Soviet and Russian geologist specializing in marine sedimentology. He was born on July 3, 1923, in Shatilovo, Tula Province, and passed away on February 11, 2020, in Moscow. He held a doctorate in geological and mineralogical sciences and became a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1994. Lisitsyn served as the head of the laboratory of physical-geological research at the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was the son of academician Pyotr Ivanovich Lisitsyn and the uncle of academician Andrey Borisovich Lisitsyn.
