Aleksandr Smirnov was a Russian politician born on April 26, 1958. He served as a member of the State Duma from 2012 to 2016 and was previously the vice-governor of Saint Petersburg. He took office after the resignation of Vasilina Kuliyeva, who left to run for Governor of Zabaykalsky Krai. Smirnov was affiliated with the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. He tragically passed away on July 21, 2021, at the age of 63, in Kislovodsk due to complications from COVID-19.
