Aleksey Konstantinovich Sokolov (1922—2001) was a prominent Russian Soviet painter and educator, awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1980. Born in Petrograd to artist Konstantin Alekseyevich Sokolov, he studied at the I.E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, graduating in 1951. He taught for many years, first at the V.I. Mukhina Higher School of Art and later at the Repin Institute, where he was also the dean of the painting faculty. He was a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists.
