Joensuun piispa Aleksi, born Pertti Rantala on April 13, 1941, was an auxiliary bishop in the Orthodox Church of Finland. He completed his religious studies in 1966 and served as a religion teacher until 1973. He was also a cantor and had a deep interest in Slavonic language and monastic tradition. He was ordained as a monk and bishop at Valamo Monastery and became a respected church leader. His promising career was cut short by illness, and he passed away on January 22, 1984, in Joensuu, with his grave located at Valamo Monastery.
