Aleš Kacjan is a Slovenian flutist born on December 14, 1958, in Ljubljana. He received his musical education in Ljubljana at the Academy of Music under Professor Boris Čampa, in London under Professor Michie Bennett, and in Salzburg under Professor Irena Grafenauer. Since 1985, he has been the solo flutist with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Kacjan has collaborated with notable musicians like Vinko Globokar and Heinz Holliger. He is a recipient of the Prešeren Foundation Award as part of the woodwind quintet Slowind and has recorded 8 albums with various ensembles.
