Alejandro "Alex" Kacelnik, FRS, born on December 14, 1946, is an Argentine-British zoologist and professor of behavioural ecology at Oxford University. He leads the Behavioural Ecology Research Group and is known for his extensive research on animal behaviour, particularly tool-making in New Caledonian crows. Kacelnik's work incorporates methods from zoology, psychology, and economics, and he has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles. His contributions to animal cognition have been recognized with several awards including the Cogito Prize and the Raíces Prize.
