Alexander Sanderson, born on October 7, 1979, in Chester, is a former English rugby union player who played as a back row. He played for Saracens and Sale Sharks during the 1990s and 2000s. Sanderson captained the England midweek side and debuted for the national team in 2001, scoring a try against Romania. He made his Six Nations debut in 2003 and was part of the World Cup squad. After retiring in 2005 due to injury, he became the Director of Rugby at Sale Sharks, appointed in January 2021.
