Born on April 25, 1946, she grew up in Lymm, Cheshire, and raised three children alongside her husband John Timpson. In addition, they adopted two children and fostered at least ninety others, advocating for children's welfare and family services. In recognition of her contributions, she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2006 New Year Honours for her services to children and families.
