Alexander Rupert van Someren is a British computing entrepreneur and venture capitalist born in February 1965. He is notable for co-founding nCipher, a hardware encryption company, in 1996 alongside his brother Nicko van Someren. In July 2021, he took on the role of Chief Scientific Adviser for National Security, succeeding Anthony Finkelstein.
