Alexander 'Alex' Zelinsky is an Australian computer scientist, systems engineer, and roboticist, born on March 5, 1960. He has had a diverse career involving innovation, research and development, and education. Since November 2018, he has served as the Vice-chancellor and President of the University of Newcastle. Prior to this role, he was the Chief Defence Scientist of Australia from March 2012 to November 2018, leading defence science and technology for the Department of Defence.
