Alexander Andronicovich Vidomenko was a prominent Ukrainian writer, journalist, literary scholar, and teacher, born on July 7, 1931, in Morintsi, Cherkasy Oblast. He was the great-grandnephew of the famous poet Taras Shevchenko. Vidomenko was a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and received several awards for his contributions to literature and history, including regional prizes named after Shevchenko and Mykyta Hodovantsia, as well as the Bohdan Khmelnytsky prize. He passed away on September 23, 2017.
