Alexander King (January 26, 1909 - February 28, 2007) was a British scientist and a pioneer in the sustainable development movement. He co-founded the Club of Rome in 1968 with Italian businessman Aurelio Peccei, advocating for environmental issues at a time of unprecedented economic growth. King served as the Director-General of Scientific Affairs at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) based in Paris when the club was established. He and Peccei were recognized for bringing environmental concerns into political discussions and were seen as prophets of their time.
