Alexander Nabben (1953-2018) was a German vegetarian, cook, activist, and author. A self-taught individual, he founded Munich's first vegetarian non-smoking café, Wildwuchs, in 1980. Inspired by the Farm project in Ireland, he later opened a vegetarian restaurant in Göttingen, which unfortunately failed. Nabben was a pioneer in German tofu, seitan, and vegetarian burger production, actively participating in eco-markets and supporting environmental causes. He was involved in the German soybean producers' association and taught vegetarian cooking courses. He later moved to the Allgäu region where he continued his activism and writing until his death.
