Alexandru Dănescu was a Romanian general born on November 10, 1927, in Hodoreasca, Gorj County. He served as the head of the Foreign Intelligence Directorate of Romania from June to October 1978. Dănescu held the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for Administration and Logistics starting August 19, 1966. His tenure as the director of the Foreign Intelligence Directorate coincided with the defection of General Ion Mihai Pacepa from Romania.
