Alexei Petrovich Ryskov is a Soviet and Russian scientist in the fields of molecular biology and molecular genetics, born on February 5, 1941, in Moscow. He is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1994 and a recipient of the State Prize of the USSR (1983) and the State Prize of the Russian Federation for genomic DNA fingerprinting (1996). Ryskov has made significant contributions to the understanding of nucleic acids and genomic techniques, mentoring over 30 candidates and 6 doctors of science in his career. He currently leads a laboratory at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
