Alfons Kaps was a German communist and a resistance fighter against the Nazi regime. Born on April 3, 1901, he became a KPD member in 1923 and later led an illegal cell in Wuppertal after the Nazis took power. He emigrated to the Netherlands in 1934 but returned to Germany. Kaps worked to establish a resistance group in the Ruhr region, producing and distributing anti-Nazi propaganda. He was arrested in January 1943 due to betrayal and, after revealing information under torture, he took his own life in March 1943. His brothers also resisted the regime.
