Alfons Sebastiá Viñals was a Spanish Catholic blessed and martyr born on May 27, 1910, in Valencia. He was the son of a laborer and began his studies at a seminary in Orihuela. He was ordained a priest in 1933 and directed the School of Social Formation in Valencia. He became a victim of anti-Catholic persecution during the Spanish Civil War and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2001 for being murdered out of hatred for the faith, joining a group of 232 martyrs.
