Alfred Garson (1924-2022) was a Canadian composer, violinist, and music educator. As a child, he performed in Europe and South America. He studied composition and musicology in London and became a pioneer of the Suzuki method in Canada. Garson's works include ballets and choral music, and he served as the director of the Suzuki program at McGill University. He earned a Ph.D. in 1970, with his dissertation focusing on contemporary music appreciation for young children. His contributions significantly influenced music education in Canada.
