Alfred Martin Jakobsen (1917-1997) was a Norwegian philologist and professor of Old Norse at the Norwegian Teacher Training College in Trondheim. He was born to a farmer and fisherman. He earned his cand. philol. in 1950 and served as a university fellow in Norwegian at the University of Bergen from 1957. He became a professor in 1969 and worked on language committees. His publications include studies on Petter Dass's language and Norse philology, along with a doctoral thesis on Clarus saga in 1965.
