Alfred Karasek (1902–1970) was a Sudeten German engineer and ethnologist, known for his significant contributions to the study of folklore, particularly of displaced Germans. He incorporated his mother's maiden name to highlight his heritage and was a staunch National Socialist during WWII, involved in the resettlement of ethnic Germans and the plundering of cultural artifacts. After the war, he founded the 'Volkskunde der Heimatvertriebenen' (Folklore of the Displaced) and established the Karasek Research Center for Eastern German Folklore. He was referred to as one of the 'Brothers Grimm of Eastern Germany.'
