Aliaxey Kuzmich was a Belarusian painter born in 1945 in the village of Makhro, Brest Region, now part of Belarus. He is known for creating a unique interpretation of the Madonna in a red shawl, which became a notable theme in international art known as 'weeping Madonnas.' He was referred to as the 'Belarusian Raphael' in Italy for having the largest number of paintings depicting the Madonna in the world. Kuzmich passed away in 2013 in Minsk, Belarus.
