Alimpius, born Alexandre Kapitonovitch Goussev on August 14, 1929, was a prominent figure in the Russian Old Believer Orthodox Church. He served as archbishop of Moscow from 1986 to 1988, subsequently becoming the metropolitan of Moscow and all Russia from 1988 until his passing on December 31, 2003. His leadership spanned a significant period during which he influenced the church's direction and preservation of tradition.
