He has been the president of The NetBSD Foundation since 1999 and joined the NetBSD project in 1993 as a user and contributor. He is the developer and founder of the pkgsrc package system and has ported pkgsrc to Sun Solaris and Mac OS X. Crooks has a PhD in computer science and has worked in various roles, including consulting on operating system security. He has also authored several technical documents and presented at conferences.
