Allan Cartner was a British television continuity announcer, best known for his work with Border Television where he served for 27 years, primarily as a chief announcer. He began his career in 1957 as an outside broadcast cameraman before joining Border Television shortly after its launch in 1961. Cartner was involved in various local programs such as Border Diary and Lookaround news bulletins. In the 1970s, he also worked for Tyne Tees Television, where he made his last announcement in March 1996 before passing away in October 1997.
