Allan Prior was an influential English television scriptwriter and novelist born on January 13, 1922, in Newcastle upon Tyne. He wrote over 300 television episodes from the 1950s, notably for the police drama Z-Cars, contributing to 136 episodes. He also worked on Blake's 7 and co-created Howards' Way. Prior penned more than thirty original plays for television, including The Charmer and A Perfect Hero. His radio play Führer gained recognition as BBC Radio 4's flagship drama for World War II anniversary broadcasts. He passed away on June 1, 2006.
