Alma Rae Evans-Freke was a pioneering New Zealand television personality, actor, producer, and teacher known for being the first female TV presenter in New Zealand. Starting her career in the late 1940s, she became a trained copywriter and then studied drama in London. In 1961, she joined AKTV2 as a continuity announcer. Beyond television, she had a significant impact on speech and drama education, serving as an Examiner for the New Zealand Speech Board and adjudicating competitions nationwide.
