Alma Joslyn Whiffen-Barksdale (October 25, 1916 – July 5, 1981) was an American mycologist noted for her discovery of cyclohexamide. Born in Hammonton, New Jersey, she earned her bachelor's degree from Maryville College in 1937, and her master's and Ph.D. in botany and mycology from the University of North Carolina in 1939 and 1941, respectively. She worked at Upjohn's Antibiotic Research Department and the New York Botanical Garden, specializing in the study of the aquatic fungus genus Aselia. Her contributions were recognized by the American Mycological Society and the Aselia Newsletter after her passing.
