Alok Ranjan, born on March 9, 1956, is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1978 batch of the U.P. Cadre. He served as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh for over two years before retiring on July 1, 2016. After his retirement, Ranjan was appointed as the Chief Adviser to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and served as the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC). He resigned from these roles following the electoral defeat of the Samajwadi Party.
