Sister Aloysius McVeigh (1923-2008) was a prominent artist, iconographer, and educator from Dungiven, Northern Ireland. She taught art for over two decades at St Mary's College in Derry, where she also served as principal. After earning a Master of Fine Arts from Yale in 1980, she returned to Belfast to teach at St Mary's University College. A founding member of the Association of Irish Iconographers, she viewed her work as prayer. An annual art competition in her name supports young art students in the Derry Diocese.
