Alparslan Türkeş was a Turkish politician born on November 25, 1917, in Nicosia, British Cyprus. He was the founder and former leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, representing the far-right of the Turkish political spectrum. Despite his far-right position, he was respected across both sides of the Turkish political spectrum. Türkeş played a significant role in shaping Turkish nationalist ideology and politics before his death on April 4, 1997.
