Edwin Francisco Van Yurick Altamirano was a Chilean advertising student and a member of the Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR). He was forcibly disappeared during the military dictatorship in Chile at the age of 20. Van Yurick and his wife, Bárbara Uribe, who is also a detained desaparecido, were apprehended together. Their cases are part of the notorious Operación Colombo, which was a campaign used to cover up human rights abuses during this period.
