Aly Elsamman was an Egyptian journalist and thinker known for his advocacy for interfaith dialogue. Born in 1929 in Cairo, he earned a law degree from Alexandria University in 1953, a postgraduate diploma in international law and political science from Grenoble University in 1956, and a doctorate from Paris University in 1966. He served as an advisor to President Anwar Sadat from 1972 to 1974 and held various positions, including Vice-President of the Al-Azhar interfaith dialogue committee. He published articles in Arabic and foreign newspapers and wrote about his experiences during Nasser's, Sadat's, and Mubarak's eras. He passed away in Paris in 2017 at 87.
