Amalendu Chandra, born in 1963, is an Indian theoretical physical chemist and a professor and head of the Chemistry Department at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is renowned for his work on microscopic theories and for modeling (simulation) liquids, interfaces, and clusters. Chandra is a selected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy. In 2007, he was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for his contributions to scientific research, which is among the highest scientific awards in India.
