Aman Andom was an Eritrean-Ethiopian military officer born on June 21, 1924, in Hazen, Eritrea, and died on July 23, 1974, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He was a prominent figure during the Ethiopian Civil War and held the position of the first chairman of the Provisional Military Administrative Council, known as the Derg. The Derg was a military government that came to power after the overthrow of Emperor Haile Selassie, during which a communist regime was established in Ethiopia.
