Amanullah Khan Niazi (1959-2006) was a Superintendent at Central Prison Karachi, serving for over 20 years. He was ambushed and killed on June 15, 2006, allegedly due to his refusal to provide illegal facilities to inmates of a political party. His murder was orchestrated by Saeed Bharam, an MQM leader, in retaliation for his strict conduct. The ambush resulted in the deaths of Niazi and several associates. Ubaid Khursheed, involved in the ambush, claimed during his arrest that he acted under orders from Bharam.
