Amar Singh Chamkila (July 21, 1960 - March 8, 1988) was an Indian singer and musician known for Punjabi music. His vibrant language, high-pitched singing, and new compositions combined with traditional music made him immensely popular. Chamkila's music was inspired by the rural Punjabi life where he grew up. Tragically, he was assassinated along with his second wife, Amar Got, and two band members in an unsolved case, at the peak of his fame. Often referred to as the 'Elvis of Punjab', his notable songs include 'Taku Tee Takwa' and several devotional tracks.
