Amarjeet Sohi (born March 8, 1964) is a Canadian politician and the current mayor of Edmonton, having taken office on October 26, 2021. He previously served as a Liberal MP and held cabinet positions, including minister of infrastructure and communities and minister of natural resources. Born in India, Sohi immigrated to Canada in 1981 and faced imprisonment in India. After returning to Edmonton, he worked as a taxi and bus driver before entering politics. Sohi made history as Edmonton's first visible minority mayor and is among Canada's first Punjabi mayors of major cities.
