América Tereza Nascimento da Silva, known as América Tereza, is a Brazilian politician born on October 3, 1953, in Guiricema. She has served multiple terms as a city councilor in Volta Redonda and was elected president of the city council in 2013. After the mayor's mandate was revoked in 2013, she temporarily became the first woman to lead the city. She ran for mayor in 2016 and for a federal deputy position in 2018 but was unsuccessful in both elections. Tereza has also presided over the Foundation for Childhood and Adolescence (FIA).
