Ameril Umbra Kato (May 18, 1946 – April 14, 2015) was a prominent leader of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), a group that split from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). He joined the MILF in 1985 after graduating from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Kato was among the most wanted criminals in the Philippines, with arrest warrants issued against him. He was reported dead on April 14, 2015, following an attack, with complications from pneumonia being cited as the cause of his death.
