Amit Chakma, also known as Amitabh Chakma, is a Bangladeshi-born Canadian chemical engineer and academic. He became the 10th president and vice-chancellor of the University of Western Ontario in 2009. He has received several honorary degrees including an Honorary Doctor of Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2010, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of British Columbia Engineering Alumni in 2015, and an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Dhaka in 2017.
