Amr Ezzat Salama is an Egyptian civil engineering professor born in Cairo in 1951. He served as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the transitional government since March 7, 2011, after being appointed by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. Previously, he held the same ministerial position from July 12, 2004, to December 27, 2005. Salama has an extensive academic background, with a bachelor's degree from Cairo University and master's and doctoral degrees from Manchester and Heriot-Watt Universities, respectively.
