André Lallemand was a notable French astronomer born on September 29, 1904, in Cirey-lès-Pontaillerel and died on March 24, 1978, in Paris. He served as the director of the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris and made significant contributions to the development of photomultipliers for astronomy and the electronic camera, known as the Lallemand camera. Lallemand held a professorship at the Collège de France from 1961 to 1974 and was elected to the French Academy of Sciences in 1961. He received the Lalande Prize in 1938 and the Eddington Medal in 1962, with a lunar crater named after him.
