He played as a forward, representing teams such as Jenisei Krasnojarsk in the Soviet Union and IFK Vänersborg and Gripen-Trollhättan in Sweden. Paškin was the top scorer at the 1983 World Championships and was the first Soviet bandy player to move to Sweden in 1988. He transitioned to coaching after his playing career, taking roles in Jenisei Krasnojarsk and the Russian national team, helping to secure a world championship in 2014.
