Andrei Sergeevich Chefranov (1927–2009) was a specialist in submarine radar systems and a laureate of the USSR State Prize (1984). He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation in 1949, specializing in radio engineering. He worked as an engineer and chief designer at OKB-794 and later at TsNIIGranit, where he held several senior technical positions. Notably, he was the chief designer for radar detection stations. He earned a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree in 1959 and was an honored radio operator in the USSR.
